A good number of utility project kits utilize a 3/8"-16 tpi threaded stud design that allows for disassembly for cleaning or refinishing as needed. This threaded insert eliminates the need to drill and tap the wood handle and eliminates the risk of a wooden thread in the handle breaking down over time. To use, simply drill a 7/16" dia. hole in the handle and glue the insert in place.
